The Cisco ASR 1001-X Router supports all the general-purpose routing and security features of the Cisco ASR 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers. The Cisco ASR 10 Routers have reached end of sale effective April 2016, with the final milestone dates for software maintenance and software security/ vulnerability support of August 1, 2018, and Augrespectively. To test in-service software upgrades and downgrades, we moved all system components between version 12.2(33)XNB1 and 12.2(33)XNB2 of the IOS XE software, all while offering 64-byte frames at 50. The Cisco ASR 1001-X Router is a part of the Cisco ASR 1000 Series and offers a compact form factor that consumes less rack space and power while offering 20 Gbps forwarding throughput. Customers are encouraged to migrate from the older ASR1001 and ASR1002 to the next-generation ASR1001-X and ASR1002-X. The Route Processor 3 adds more options for higher performance, memory, and storage to the ASR 1000 Series. The Cisco ASR 1000 Series Route Processor 3 is the newest addition to the modular control plane engines in the Cisco ASR 1000 Series. The new Cisco ASR 1001-X and 1002-X Routers provide many more capabilities and at higher scale and performance. The ASR 1001-HX has 4 built-in 10 GE ports, 8 1 GE ports, and 4 configurable 10 GE or 1 GE ports.
